Lan Ying Chinese Painting Print – White Trees Red

The first thing you notice is the White Trees Red; the second is how little Lan Ying needed to suggest it. Expect a flat, unmounted sheet — the huaxin print, and nothing but the print.

Mountains, red trees, white trees: the classic trio, handled with restraint — a traditional Chinese painting reproduction with real substance. Look again and you’ll spot scholar and bridge tucked into the composition. Columns of calligraphy share the sheet with the image, as on the original — exactly what this kind of Chinese home decor print should be. Blue-green mountains in the Tang-derived manner: stylized, splendid, unmistakable. Peaks rise and valleys open with the logic of a well-told story. Where scholars gather in a painting, the subject is really the cultivated life. Lan Ying’s late-Ming landscapes are learned, layered, and quietly dramatic.

For the tea room, the reading corner, or the bedroom wall — it asks little and gives much, and a worthy Chinese art print for framing. Hang it in the dining room; good art is good company.
